After a while, Noquisi wakes up and feels a lot better. She looks around and figures shes been out for two or three hours at least, because its still daytime. She looks around for Wohali and smells his scent leading to his den.

Noquisi gathered all of the mice and threw them into the creek, making sure they all floated away, and then washed her paws to rid the poison. She then caught a rabbit and, making sure there wasn't any poison on it, she padded off to Wohali's den to thank him.

Noquisi pads up to the creek and takes a long drink from the cool, refreshing waters. The birds were singing, the sun was shining, and the grass was waving in a nice breeze. It was a great day to be a wolf.

Apricus' prediction had been correct: the creek was completely solid. In fact, Apricus never would have guessed that there ever was a creek if he hadn't already known it existed for snow had piled on top of the frozen stream. He wondered if it would support his weight and was about to test it before he noticed a plump mouse digging for roots in the snow. He hadn't had a decent meal for a while. He stalked the tiny brown mouse, and caught it easily. In no time flat, he reduced the mouse to a small pile of skin and bones.

Uleyov sighed. The breeze coasting along the hills brushed over his groomed fur, and a small beetle was capturing his attention. The tiny bug soon spread it'a spotted wings, though, and flew off with a soft buzz, into the water light streaming through the trees. A tickle on his nose caused Uleyov to sneeze, and a bird resting to his right fluttered away with a warning alarm. Yawning, Uleyov watched the bird fly away until it was merely a speck in the sky, and laid his head down. Waiting. For what? He didn't know. He was just waiting for something.

Usdi hopped down into the dry creek bed, kicking up dirt. "Isn't this cool?! You guys have probably never been down here before, right?" He asked, turning around to talk to Ajax and Heraclea. "I loved coming down here with Uleyov."

Heraclea rolled her eyes moodily. "Don't be a bragger," she said to Usdi. She had not, in fact, ever been to Elk Run Creek. They hadn't had time to with the war and all going on. "And you shouldn't walk in the creek bed. What if the water suddenly decides to come back?" she said bossily.

Ajax trailed after them, listening to Usdi describe his adventures. Pausing at the bank, he turned and gave Heraclea a quizzical look. "If the water was only blocked and could come back at any time, then why is it like that in the lake? That isn't the problem," he pointed out, pawing the dust where mud used to be.

Usdi shrugged. "Maybe the lake has a river coming into it somehow. I'm almost positive that something is blocking the water." Giggling, Usdi pretended to drown in the magically returning water. "Oh, no! I'm sinking in this water that just happens to reappear!" He said, making glugging noises. "I bet you're scared of the things to come in this trip, eh?" He asked, smiling smugly to Heraclea.

"I'm not scared of anything!" replied Heraclea confidently. She trotted a little futher ahead, nose in the air. Boys. They were so infuriating!

Usdi ran ahead to catch up with Heraclea. "Oh, really? I bet you couldn't even spend a night all alone in the woods." He barked, nudging her gently.

"Well I bet you can't stop talking for five whole minutes," Heraclea growled.

Usdi closed his mouth, scowling. He trotted on ahead, reaching a hilly area with dense trees. "Woah..." He whispered, stopping.

"What?" said Heraclea stopping. "It's just trees," she said, looking around and sniffing.

Usdi shook his head. "This isn't on the territory anymore. This is the line of no return. We can't come back and say we never crossed the territory line." With a pause, Usdi padded forward. "Well, no use in wasting time." Usdi laughed, disappearing into the trees.
