Vilk came upon the lake. It was mostly frozen by now, but there seemed to be enough room to fish. After quite a while of waiting, VIlk saw a fish, swatted at it, but missed. After another long while another one came. He didnt let this one go, he shoved his head under and got it in his jaws.

{Play while reading for best results...}
Lya came and rested by the lake, the late afternoon sun washing over her tawny fur. She didn't stir, for the beauty of the lake hypnotized her so. The birds stopped singing for this moment. Her regrets washed over with the waves that lapped up on her paws. She didn't move, still, for any movement would be like stabbing peacefulness in the stomach. Her golden eyes reflected the sun, and everything, anything beautiful seemed incomparable to this moment. Lya's eyes locked with the waves, and everything dropped down on her. Her inability to stop war, her childish desired that weighted her so. It made her want to scream, to scream and let it all out. So she did...
She screamed so loud that birds surrounding the area flew in all directions. So loud that it seemed to cause everything in a 2 mile radius to flee. Lya squeezed her eyes shut, so that possibly, it would all be gone when she opened them...

Noquisi padded into the lake area and spotted Lya. Flinching when she screamed, Noquisi padded up behind her and sat down beside the Satrap, tail gently rubbing her back and whispering gentle phrases. "It's all gonna be OK in the end. If its not OK, its not the end. You'll get through this. Stay strong." A single tear slipped down into her fur as she comforted the young wolf.

"It's just..," Lya trailed off hopelessly. "I...I feel helpless, Noquisi. Completely and utterly helpless," the tawny wolf finished. She drooped her head like a wilted flower.

"I know how you feel. But... What makes you feel this way?" she asked, soft honey eyes melting slightly as she looked at the helpless Satrap. 'I know how you feel. Like the world is resting on your shoulders and you can't do anything to help it.' she thought, feeling compassion to her friend.

"It's just, all the worries I have when I go to sleep. About Lycaon. Wondering if my pack will survive another day. What with summer coming on, prey will be plentiful for both our territories, but with every summer comes a storm. I just hope Lycaon doesn't snap."
The young female wolf's words poured out like a summer shower. At least Noquisi understood.

ooc; Thank you~!
Noquisi nodded. "I know. But you'll always have worries. In the winter, you'll worry about prey. When Lycaon is peaceful, you'll worry what they're planning. Its all part of being a Satrap." Pausing, she gazed at the young wolf who looked so helpless on her own. "But, you were made Satrap for a reason. Obviously the pack thinks you are a good leader. And, you're not alone. You have two other fantastic friends to help you with decisions, along with the whole pack to support you. Having worries is part of being a wolf." Chuckling, Noquisi continued. "If it were all sunshine and play, we'd be out of shape and bored. Its what makes you, well, you, and me, me." she smiled, tilting her head.

Lya couldn't help but smile at Noquisi' s words of wisdom. The fact that they were so true, though, is what make her sad. She should be thinking this!
But even a powerful leader has much to learn, so she would, surely, keep this in mind.
"Noquisi, thank you. You... you can go now. I know it must be tired."
The tawny she-wolf headed towards the Circle of Oaks.

Noquisi dipped her head at the retreating figure. "Just remember. We're always here for you..." She murmured to herself, too quiet for Lya to hear. Standing up herself, Noquisi trotted to the Circle of Oaks, where most of the action seemed to be.

Emiko padded up to the dirt circle they had once called a lake. "Oh, my..." She whispered, feeling the baked ground as she walked farther out to the middle. Dead fish lay everywhere, all crusty. The center of the lake was a little better than the rest, since there was a tiny puddle of rocks and water. She touched the spot of water, feeling how hot it was. "My goodness. This is... really, really bad..." She said, swallowing hard.

Yanah walked down the bank and faltered, disheartened by what met her eyes. There was about a car sized pool of water in the center, and while it wasn't filled with mud, it wasn't much. "I wonder if Lycaon is doing any better," she thought aloud. No wolf deserved this, no matter how evil.

Emiko glanced up at Yanah, dipping her head. "What are we to do, Yanah? We won't last long without water, and water feeds the plants, which feed the animals that we eat. If they leave, we're done for..." Emiko said, eyes worried. 'Psh, if things get too bad, I can always leave these idiots. Yanah will never last long under the pressure of the drought. She'll probably crumble first.' Emiko thought darkly, frowning inside.

Yanah looked from the water to her packmates, trying to make up her mind. At last she nodded decisively. "Water will have to be rationed. No matter how bad it gets in Lycaon, we can't share our water. It's too precious," she said, feeling bad but pushing it away. She went on further, "Food will be rationed too, we don't have a choice. We need to send out a hunting party now before it gets any hotter. Can you pick a few wolves and go out on a hunting trip Emiko? I know this sounds harsh, but please try to catch something before you come back. Anyone who is too crippled to go will stay with me at the Circle of Oaks." Yanah looked around, as if waiting for an objection.

Emiko nodded to Yanah, agreeing. The Tirtius then trotted away to gather packmates to hunt with.

Vilk was about to speak in protest, but decided instead to follow Yanah to the Circle. HE knew there was no way he could go hunt, even if it was his job.
