Katie licked her lips, rubbing her stomach like they did in the cartoons. "Yum! I can't wait." Katie said, laying on the ground, resting her head on a smooth rock. "Ah... So... Uh... Comfy?" She said, laughing. "It beats concrete, though. But, I do miss my couch." She joked, snuggling as close to the fire as she could get without burning.

"Yeah, rocks will be your pillow for a while now," Talia sighed, stirring the fire with a stick. All thoughts of luxury were a joke now. At least for the next few nights they'd have a decent meal. "I hear there's a place Apertesa left untouched by the virus. That's where I'm going," she said quietly, the fire casting shadows on her face. "Literally the safest place on earth. Unless you'd rather live in the forest." Katie was somewhat easy to talk to- perhaps because she wasn't arrogant or sarcastic like most everyone else she met.

Katie's eyes widened. "Really? Like... A paradise? From the virus?" She whispered, like it were cursed. "But why would they do that... Unless they... knew? About the virus being released?!" She concluded, gasping.

Talia looked at her, envying her innocence. "I'm not one of those paranoid conspiracy people, but I'm pretty sure that this wasn't an accident. Accidents can be contained. And if the virus only started in their facility, it wouldn't spread on its own. No, this was on purpose." She stopped her rant to remove the deer from the fire, it's aroma intoxicating since she hadn't eaten in a while. Cutting off a large chunk, she held it out to Katie. "I'm afraid we don't have any forks- hope you don't mind." She then cut herself off a piece and bit into it, her stomach gladly accepting the food.

Josh waved a hand of dismissal, "they're all models." He then turned his attention back to looking for food. When he came up empty he looked around at the others. He had almost forgotten about the girl and . . . she was blind? "Hey, who are you anyway?" he said, almost accusingly to the girl.

Robin knew she should be greatful and all because they saved her but did his tone have to be so... Rude? Sighing she pushed her personal feelings about that away and answered him. "My name's Robin and this is my dog Koda." as she mentioned her dog he barked lightly and bumped her legs affectionately. "I just came here looking for food and shelter probably like yourselves and well… I'm sure you can put the rest together." she looked in the direction of the zombies body glad she wasn't able to see that nasty thing. "And you are?" she questioned with a cocked eyebrow. Just because they saved her didn't mean she shouldn't be careful about the lot of them.

"Dr. Johnson," Josh introduced himself, still not sure about this stranger. She had a dog with her which was a good indicator that she wasn't infected, but she was blind and he questioned her ability to keep up. "Jack, where are we going now?" he called over a couple rows of shelves without taking his eyes off Robin.

ooc; i've been here the whole time
Mat looked at the new girl. "Hi Robin, I'm Mat. My pet fox is named Copper." Copper looked up and noticed the dog. He jumped down and walked over to the new animal. Copper looked the dog up and down, seemingly studying him.

Katie shrugged, taking a giant bite out of her piece. While she chewed, struggling slightly, Katie pulled little pieces off of her own to give to Fry, who gladly nuzzled up to Katie lovingly. "So, how long do we stay in the forest?" She asked Talia.
Jack shrugged. "It's time to find a place to sleep. I think a roof will do quite nicely." He said, smiling. "There, we can pool supplies and take what we all need to survive in case of being separated.

Josh slid his hands back into the depths of his pockets and started up without another word. He paused at the top of the staircase and jiggled the handle of the door that would lead to the roof. "Locked," he declared.

Talia thought about this, chewing quietly while she attempted to formulate a plan. "Well," she began after swallowing, "I think we should get as far as we can while sticking to the forest. We'll have to leave at some point to enter cities for supplies. I say we just follow the sun east. The coast is the only place to go." Ripping off another bite, she ate pensively and watched their surroundings for the disgusting creatures.

Katie nodded. This was a fine idea. Katie didn't have anything better, so she didn't speak for a while. When she did, she began quietly. "Tell me something about yourself. Did you have any pets?" She asked, trying to keep things light.
Jack moved to the door, laughing. "Not for long." He said, kneeling down. Jack then began to pick the lock with his screwdriver.

Talia froze, unsure of what to say. "No, no pets. My parents weren't really lenient with me growing up. They shipped me to military school the first chance they got. If you ask me, I don't think they wanted a child to begin with," she said, continuing to eat. She looked completely unfazed, because in reality she was. Long ago she'd come to terms with the fact that perhaps her parents didn't love her very much- at all even. If they thought that would ruin her life, they were wrong.

Katie looked at Talia, feeling sad for the fact that her parents didn't like her. "That's sad. Did they fight a lot? Or were they okay after you left?" She asked, hoping her questions weren't treading too far.
"Done." Jack said, clicking the lock a last twist. The pop of the handle coming unlocked sounded, and Jack turned the handle, revealing stairs.

Talia thought about this for a moment. "They didn't fight. They just... Didn't act like loving parents," she said trying to explain. "When I was younger I got what I wanted, but they weren't ever happy to see me. Then when I started to confront them about it, I was off to military school." Satisfied with her meal, she went back to prodding the fire with a stick to keep her hands busy. "What about you and your brother?" She asked, subtly changing the subject.
